Yard-repurpose, phase 2. 1 May 2013.

re-do1re-do2

I’m happy that I didn’t hire Big Red Sun in Austin. They were ridiculously expensive for the proposed improvements. And really in a lot of ways, isn’t most of it just about convenience? Push a button? Rather than figure it out myself and hire installers — I’ll pay someone else to do it. The problem is — it’s like hiring a interior decorator. They can help you find things that are a very minor reflection of your personality – it doesn’t capture you — it only hints at you, obliquely. And the iterative process can be numbing in getting remotely close to that ‘hint’ of an answer. By it’s very nature it becomes a ‘cheap’ experience. It can’t help it. We are our own best mirrors. My ‘version’ of design might not conform to someone else’s version of design — but who cares — as long as my design is functional and visually satisfying…

Besides, the savings from doing it myself will allow for the budgeting of an additional documentary film and a 100 minute feature film with two ‘A’ listed actors… LOL
