Epigenetics is basically just another mechanism to generate (and sometimes inherit) variation. Repurposing is about changing function (to my way of thinking). So any mechanism to generate variation can augment a change in function, but I would not put epigenetics in a special place for evolution of new function without some specific rationale. Jim
