What can you say. I remember going inside the innards of Marlborough Gallery/NYC in 1979 to see a Bacon Triptych hanging on the moveable chain link fences that paintings were displayed on. I asked at the time, about the value of the triptych. She said $360.000,00. The Bacon triptych (of Lucien Freud) sold a few days ago for $142.000.000,000. It would seem like a monstrous return if you bought and held. Or rather had the balls to buy and hold for 34 years. But actually it’s not a monstrous return. The return on investment would have been, roughly 20%. Actually less — you’d have to deduct insuring it and that, over time, couldn’t be inexpensive.

A friend in Spain sent this photo last night which I sent on to my friend Julie Cohn. Julie designs jewelry in Dallas and has killer taste and is super innovative in her process. Dave and Julie inspired me to do landscape work out here. Hard to find good inspiration these days. By the way, did I play you the Charlie Kaufmann BAFTA speech?
I’m trying to post only things here that are true and good here. No housewife-club-hype-marketing-gloop-glop©-suckerpunches. No Pop-Tarts and iPads either. (Sorry about that).
Cheers
