Note. 11 Apr 2015.

This is an outtake from Antonioni’s Blow-Up. In this scene, The Yardbirds are playing and Jeff Beck breaks up his guitar onstage and throws the neck of the guitar into the audience. There’s a skirmish for it. David Hemmings makes away with it. But in the end; it’s all based on context. The artifact is only valuable in its setting or context. Once the context is removed; the value of the object is gone. Emanuel Kant said that for ‘something to be art, it has to be useless.’ And there you have it.
