Coolio. I’d say ‘From Here to There’, but its more like ‘From Here to Eternity.’ Assuming you want realism and not BS. A couple of corners were turned thematically. I had a very traditional screenwriter helping the last few sessions but I couldn’t put my finger on why the story had become so burdensome and unexciting to read. I think the story had gotten too traditional. It was based on the screenwriter’s problem solving ability, and to a much greater extent, my inability to understand that.
Until now. It was more like conforming to a formula and then wondering why there wasn’t any emotional connectivity. That ‘s what formulas are good for. The suck the life out of everything. I’m back off the tracks, derailing on purpose, in an attempt to get back to something more original — and it feels good and true.
It’s the equivalent of being the assistant to a well known commercial artist. The artist dies, leaving a temporary void, and the assistant decides to try and fill that vacuum. If you can bring something original — you got a shot. If you rehash what the well known commercial artist has already done before. You ain’t got a Chinaman’s chance in Hades. It’s as weird as someone going to the excruciating trouble and time to paint an exact replica of a dinner table setting. You could do it a lot easier by taking a photograph. That kind of painting was appreciated — but in the 1700’s. Why go backwards? The only reason to go backwards, is if you’re intellectually lazy.
