I wasn’t sure why Wes Anderson’s film was nominated. They’ve gotten so formulaic, it’s ridiculous. And so, sort of, precious, in the worst sense of the word. Someone sent me this (above) and I agree. Not much growth as a filmmaker. By the way, isn’t that the point of being an artist?
Otherwise, you might as well be making widgets.
If you’re going to copy Richard Avedon, so be it. But don’t be shocked when there isn’t much uptake.
