A friend of mine that is a proper culinary artist, asked me how my screenplay was going last weekend. I told her that screenplays are a Rubik’s Cube for idiots. She said that writing one must require patience. I said, yes. You want to finish it but you can’t say it’s finished until it all functions properly. It’s like being held hostage by an idea. She looked puzzled. I said, think of it as an omelette. Normally, an omelette takes five minutes. If you found yourself working on the same omelette eight hours later… She laughed and sort of danced away.
