I was very flattered to be asked to participate in a new beta test for Helios. Helios (v6) is an iPhone/iPad app that plots the sun’s position at any given hour in the day. It’s important because getting a shot to work/setting up a shot involves lighting; and this particular light source, the sun, is in constant motion. Knowing where it will be, when and at what angle is aces. I’ve used Helios for four years and love it. And they keep making it better. I also use Artemis, a directors viewfinder, as well. They’re not inexpensive but theyre worth their weight. And the guys at Chemical Wedding are constantly innovating and available for questions and suggestions. Good to know. But better to have.
