I’m sitting here watching Charlie Kaufman explain his craft to a Swedish audience. Pretty funny. I always wonder what someone that only has the capacity of looking at the world in only the most literal sense would think of Charlie and his work. I’m sure even a literalists , (when de briefed) , would enjoy ‘Being John Malcovich’. But could you imagine thinking it up? Then turning it into a screenplay? He seems like a guy that is completely honest and faithful to the craft. He also seems uncomfortable explaining his scripts — the fact that he’s not some slick guy blowing BS is totally refreshing. Pretty cool. I also received this gift from a friend that is Ho Chi Minh on a photo junket. She’s making some really beautiful still images. Merci beau coup!
