Last night I went to a party in LA and when it wound down — I found myself sitting with two sisters, talking. The conversation turned round to my girlfriend wanting to have a child but neither of us being particularly interested in getting married. That opened the doors for spirited discourse, from a women(s) perspective. Next, their brother materializes, he referenced a few childhood punch ups that they’d had, causing one sister to yawn and say she was sleepy and the other to be driven visibly to tears. After a very short while — I decided it was time for a cigar. It’d been an interesting night… very Shakespearian. The sister that had been crying asked if she could go with me. Sure. We sat outside, at the hotel, until 1:30PM sitting on the curb, dressed up, sharing my cigar. We discussed the merits of the French, French girls, babies, not getting married, shared responsibility, film and where to live. I got back up to my room and thought… I had a pretty damned good evening. Barely anything escaped the microscope… it was very rewarding.
